Study session for the November 2015 ICS exams held in Montreal

To prepare local students for the upcoming ICS exams in November 2015, study sessions were held in Montreal from October 20th through 23rd covering “Economics of Sea Transport & International Trade”, “Legal Principles of Shipping Business” and “Port Agency”.

The sessions were held over two-hour lunch periods at the office of Fednav where most of the participants worked. “Economics” was led by Julian Hung, ICS Canada Branch East Coast Representative, “Legal” by David Colford, maritime lawyer with Brisset Bishop and “Port Agency” by Capt Cavit Minic (winner of Shipbrokers Register award for highest marks in Port Agency in the April 2015 exams).

Session leaders shared their knowledge and experience with the students and guided them through past exam questions. For their part, the students were very keen, actively trying to understand the concepts and how to explain and apply them. ICS hopes that they came away from the sessions with a much better understanding of their subjects and how they should approach their exams.Good luck to our students!!!
